You could benefit from

A highly energy efficient system

Whether it's a new-build project or an existing home, an Ecodan air source heat pump can provide all of your heating and hot water needs. By eliminating the need for costly fossil fuels like gas and oil, it can help reduce your energy bills and lower your carbon footprint.

Government incentive grants

In addition to low running costs, Ecodan is recognised by government as a renewable energy source because it harvests free energy from the air. As a renewable technology there are grant supports available through the SEAI: visit the SEAI (www.seai.ie) for more information.

Award-winning low noise levels

Ecodan is not only highly efficient; it is also one of the quietest units available on the market. An Ecodan renewable heating system is discrete and whisper-quiet, offering flexibility in where you can choose to place it and making it perfect for almost any location.

A future-proof heating solution

Ecodan renewable heating systems are self-contained and versatile, only requiring electricity and water connections. They upgrade freely available heat energy from the air and transfer it to your home to provide space heating for radiators and / or under floor heating. The Ecodan outdoor unit also provides your home with a continuous supply of  domestic hot water via a dedicated hot water cylinder.

How an Ecodan system works

Ecodan Ambassador George Clarke

The way we design, build, heat, power and recycle our homes needs to change and change quickly and renewable heating is an important part of our future. I’m therefore delighted to associate myself with the market-leading brand of heat pumps which are built here in the UK and which can help reduce energy bills and lower emissions for almost any home

Types of Ecodan

Ecodan air source heat pumps use 1kW of electrical energy input and take 3kW of low temperature renewable heat energy from the air, producing a high efficient 4kW heat energy output. This heats refrigerant in the system which in turn heats water for domestic hot water and space heating.

Is Ecodan right for you?

As Ireland strives to meet its carbon reduction targets, renewable heating systems like Ecodan air source heat pumps have been recognised as an important part of the solution. This is why the Government is encouraging the installation of heat pumps as the low carbon alternative to gas, oil and LGP heating.

Ecodan renewable heating systems allow Housing Associations to comply with regulations and legislations and are simpler to maintain than gas, removing the need for gas safety certificates. The system can help reduce a property's carbon footprint, simplify maintenance regimes and help tenants combat fuel poverty by reducing household running costs.

With an Ecodan air source heat pump there is no need for groundwork preparations such as pipework. The Ecodan system can be easily mounted outside of the home at a convenient location such as an alleyway or garden. It is also compatible with underfloor heating which is popular in self-build properties.

Customer Stories

We run it at 22 degrees 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are toasty. We have full time confidence that we will be warm, that cost is not an issue and our arthritis has been less painful.

Homeowner

The ground floor is lovely and warm when we get up in the morning and we've hardly needed the heating on upstairs as the eco-house retains such a lot of heat

Homeowner

The system has quickly adapted to suit our lifestyle and controls both the heat pump and the gas boiler, so we really don't need to worry about anything

Ecodan vs other solutions

In 2019 the Irish Government's Climate Action Plan stated an intent to ban the installation of gas boilers in new homes from 2025.

Ecodan air source heat pumps are the modern alternative to gas boilers, which were popularised in the 1960s, they can be used both on and off the gas grid, only requiring an electrical connection. Ecodan is the modern renewable alternative to a gas boiler and produces renewable heating and hot water with much lower carbon emissions.

A gas boiler will produce less than 1kW of heat energy for every kW of gas consumed. A heat pump on the other hand harvests renewable energy from the outdoor air so will produce 4 or more kW of heat energy for every kW of electricity consumed.

In comparison to an oil system, an Ecodan air source heat pump is much more efficient, creates lower carbon emissions and has considerably lower operating costs. Also, as they only use electricity and harvest heat energy from the air, there is no need to worry about costly fuel deliveries and the rising costs of oil prices.

An Ecodan air source heat pump will have the largest noticeable impact on your bills and carbon reduction output if you have a direct electric system.
